October. 10 months in. Autumn Leaves. Halloween. Playoff Baseball. NHL Hockey is back. 4th quarter of 2019. Fall Programming underway.
As we head into Fall we take a moment to look back and are thankful for a wonderful Summer here at the Y. Lots of great memories, programs, and milestones reached. Every day we changed lives: Day Camp, Summer Food Program, Healthy Kids Day, the Giving Garden, Summer Fest, and many other great programs and events led to another successful summer. And on top of the beautiful weather we have been experiencing lately, the Y is also enjoying beautiful momentum as we head into the final stretch of this calendar year. The Annual Campaign continues to forge ahead, special events continue to grow, programs excite participants and spectators alike, and the CEO Search Committee is hard at work narrowing the search for our next leader. So many wheels turning to help our Y continually improve each and every day. I am hopeful that each and every one of you has an opportunity to enjoy what the Y has to offer. Tell a friend and help spread the word.
In closing this month I would like to encourage everyone: staff, members, volunteers, and the community to focus on what’s truly important for our Y and our region to succeed: speaking with one voice. Often times we find ourselves fighting battles within (most of the time with good intentions) when we should be working together to establish a common good for all. This Y has a lot going for it and can be one of the most successful YMCA’s in the Y movement if we all come together and work alongside one another to utilize our strengths and experience. No one is successful by themselves. We must work as a team if we want to see this Y to the next level. I am confident we can do so. Let’s git’er done!
Enjoy your October everyone. Don’t eat too much trick or treat candy! Stay safe and enjoy the Fall Foliage mother nature will provide. Talk to you in November!
