Everyday I get the opportunity to work with the students of Armstrong School district. These kids make my day. They may test my patience at some points but at the end of the day, they’re kids. I can honestly say that I look forward to this program every day. I can consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to educate these kids and help them along the wild and crazy path of life.
Just a few months ago, I explained to the after school kids that the drug problem in this community has gotten out of control. Throughout my life I’ve been to too many of my classmates funerals. Some of them being drug related, some because of poor choices, and some being God’s will. So what we have started doing was this little saying before the after school program starts just to remind them that We’re all in this together and to think twice before making a decision.
We all have fun during the 2 hours they spend here. If the kids have a problem or are in need of advice, I feel privileged to help out and give my 100% effort to provide that help.
To everyone who steps foot in the YMCA, these are what the students and I are doing.
