In 2011 we were struggling trying to find things for our son Ian to do. There wasn’t much out there for special needs kids and he can’t join in sports programs. I saw plans for the new Richard G. Snyder YMCA and decided to take a chance. I sent them an email about starting classes for kids like mine. Within a few weeks and after meeting Y staff, they had a gym program started. After the new Y opened they started an Adaptive Gym & Swim program. It has been amazing for our family. We found a place where Ian feels like he belongs. We have met other families that understand us and our struggles. They all have become our friends. The staff that works with our children are amazing people as well. They care about our kids and want to see our children succeed. Watching the program grow and then add an Adult Adaptive class means so much to me.
