The Y supports active older adults while providing programs that give an extra edge to good health that is needed to meet life’s changing challenges. Older people need to continue to have a mission in their lives, a sense of direction and purpose.
The Y offers a variety of opportunities and activities including exercise, wellness programs, community service, day trips, meals, health fairs, screenings and special interest classes. The Y is a place that active older adults can depend on; a place where they can enrich their lives and develop new skills, new interests and make new friends.
The Y has fitness classes specifically designed for older adults. They give participants an opportunity to stay physically active or in some cases, to overcome their fear of exercise and begin being physically active. Active Older Adults programs include water exercise, yoga and stretching classes and walking clubs.

Group Exercise classes are a great way to meet people, boost your motivation and add variety to your workouts. All fitness levels are welcome
The Coaching Connections is a wellness program offered to new and current members of the Richard G. Snyder YMCA. You will meet one on one with a Wellness Coach for a 30-minute session and may schedule up to six sessions. The Wellness Coach will give you an opportunity to share your health history, talk with you about your goals, likes and dislikes, interests, and work with you to create a plan to achieve your goals.
Our certified and experienced trainer will educate you on proper exercise techniques based on your personal fitness level. You will learn what exercises to focus on. how many you should do, for how long and how often. The trainer will help you turn weaknesses into strengths while teaching you how to mix it up for best results.
This no impact class will help you to increase joint range of motion, build muscle strength and reduce pain and stiffness through a series of exercises. Classes are held in the warm water pool.
This aqua exercise program improves agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required and a special SilverSneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination.
A low impact aerobic workout with the benefits of water resistance. Increase strength and flexibility in the warm pool.
H2O extreme is a high intensity water fitness class that is done in both the deep and shallow end of the pool. Flotation belts available.
